Fillmore District’s emcee on-the-rise DaVinci drops a brand new exclusive non-album track, titled “Gettin’ Money In My Sleep”, produced by Big D of D’Naje Entertainment. Included on a brand new RockTheDub.com compilation project, the track is an embodiment of DaVinci’s methods and message – powerful lyrics flow smoothly over the refined yet raw production, while the emcee rhymes about the importance of working hard, earning respect and, ultimately, making money. As the emcee continues to make waves in the hip-hop world, it’s clear DaVinci isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

If you don’t already have it, be sure to download DaVinci’s amazing album, The Day The Turf Stood Still, here. If you want to really support a quality project, you can buy the album at that link too.

Nefew – Antihero Begins

Hip-Hop duo, NEFEW, have been raising their profile stateside with material from their recent project Homesick. It was tracks such as the poignant Biko featuring G.O.O.D Music signee Consequence that attacked the College Charts and encouraged the attention of some of the most recognized DJs.

Wanting to keep the momentum moving, Polemikk and PA-Double, who featured on the coveted HipHopDX.com’s Next column earlier this month, joined forces with world renowned Hip-Hop blog 2DopeBoyz.com and their premier sponsor PUMA to deliver a new chapter of their ongoing musical biography for fans old and new.

The ANTIHERO BEGINS is a project that simply enhances the brand the duo have diligently worked hard to establish over the past few years. Prolific lyrics and odes to things that matter are complemented by string heavy, soulful musical soundscapes crafted intentionally for this album.

“With artists giving out music for free, and the industry demanding it, we thought it was time for us to walk on that same path, but at the same time we felt that releasing a mixtape using other artist’s production was just not enough. Instead we decided to produce a whole album from scratch.” – Polemikk

Their ability to create Hip-Hop, reminiscent of that which saturated the Hip-Hop timeline in its infancy, is what puts NEFEW in pole position. Their attitude to the culture, their undeniable talent and the content they are comfortable to address is what allows them to transcend boundaries with their music and their interpretation of the issues we face in our daily lives.

“This album is about us, our production, our lyrics, our story. You won’t encounter any big features with A-list artists, nor will you hear feature productions from celebrity producers. It’s just us,” the duo confirmed confidently. “What people will get from this project is great music and great inspiration. Lyrics that I feel everyone can relate to. We all have dreams, and we’re always looking for ways to make them come true. This project might serve as the blueprint for that. It is definitely not something you want to vibe to in the club, but you might want to listen to it when you plan to do big things.”

[Video] Kokane – “Killing Fields”

New song off album “Gimme All Mine” releasing 6/1/2010. This song is a reflection of the social ills of society and the world. I wanted to touch on this subject matter, because it’s needed in the world today. Everybody ain’t got diamonds, money and bitches, it seems like music today is geared towards demoralizing God like principles and family structure. Not to judge anyone because I am a work in progress myself, but this video is the truth and the truth will set you free. My advice to the world is don’t be playing in them Killing Fields! Kokane aka Jerry B. Long God Bless!
